Selfless Faith

We have now been in Diouloulou for a little over two weeks. I have learned a surprisingly many things about the people and culture, though I have learned much more about God and His personality through His Word.

Each time I read a passage in Scripture I am reminded that we need to live by faith alone; not just faith but “Selfless Faith.” In the Oxford Dictionary the definition for selfless is: “Concerned more with the needs and wishes of others (in this case with God and His people) than with one’s own needs and wishes.” So selfless faith means complete trust and faith in God and His wishes without expecting or even wanting anything other than God’s will to be done and all the glory to go to Him. That is all we should need or even want: God’s plan to be fulfilled and all the glory to go to Him. We don’t deserve to have or do anything other than that.

But through God’s love and grace He gives us a personal undeserved relationship with Him. We can talk to Him through prayer and He talks to us through the Bible. There is nothing better than to have a personal relationship with the universe’s creator “God.” He adopts us into His family through Jesus Christ and treats us as children.

But again we cannot settle for just a personal relationship, we have brothers and sisters, adopted just like us, in God’s family and we have the responsibility to acknowledge and work along side them (after all we live for the same purpose). God’s family is the biggest, strongest, most powerful family in the universe. Your brother is Jesus Christ “God in flesh” who lived, died and rose again. Your Father is not only the "one and only God," He just happens to be the all powerful and all loving creator of the universe, the Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end (I could go on for eternity but I won’t do that right now so don’t get freaked out).

I am part of that family and I hope that you are too! Follow Jesus’ example, join His family and become a real child of God through Selfless Faith. It’s the only way!
